Welcome to Manchester Societies

A not-for-profit company limited by guarantee - an umbrella organisation promoting the well-being of all the Societies associated with Greater Manchester - representing their views and their aspirations at City, Region and National levels.

The Members of Manchester Societies are the Societies themselves - not their members. The range of interests of these Societies reflects the breadth of intellectual life in Greater Manchester - some are relatively newly established, some are over two hundred years old. All are thriving.

They are Societies in which people wish to participate rather than be bystanders. The lists and diary of events are maintained by nominated Diarists - one from each Society. Events are seldom restricted to 'Members Only' - but it has to be accepted that attendance as a guest is legally at the invitation of the Officers of the Society concerned.

Events promoted by Manchester Societies are invariably a collaboration between two or more Member Societies - to provide a fertile environment in which the seeds of innovation may take root - to induce the social interaction that generates the sparks of insight.
